PAWS Therapy Dog Training Terms and Conditions

There's a lot more to PAWS Therapy Dog Training than just a programme or membership - hence these terms and conditions are quite long! The following Terms and Conditions govern use by all persons of any and all of PAWS Therapy Dog Training Ltd materials, products, events, services and websites.

We may update these terms and conditions from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or on our website. Your continued use of or access to our website(s), materials, products and services shall be conclusively deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions and any subsequent modification.

We are committed to protecting your data and to complying fully with the terms of GDPR 2018. We will not sell, share, or rent your data to any third party without your consent, except where required by law. For full details please see our Privacy Policy.

By signing up to the PAWS Therapy Dog Certification Programme you agree to the following:

We only act in an advisory capacity. We are not responsible for the success or otherwise of your canine assisted therapy partnership.

We accept no responsibility for any accidents or adverse incidents during or outside of your therapy sessions that may affect you, your dog or your clients.

We strongly advocate throughout our Programme that you ensure you are trained, legally compliant and insured for this specialist work in order to deliver a safe and effective service.

We do not take any responsibility for your conduct in relation to a third-party partner i.e. a therapy setting, employer, therapy client or if you are acting as representative of a pet therapy membership organisation.

We cannot give any guarantees that your dog will be suited to canine assisted therapy and much of our programme content will give you guidance to ensure that he or she is suitable for his or her mental health and happiness. However much you would love your dog to participate, your dog is a sentient being and relies on you to be responsible for his safety and well-being. In addition, you also have an added responsibility to protect the clients you might serve.

We positively discourage any therapy dog training or volunteering work unless your dog has received appropriate training and most importantly a comprehensive therapy dog assessment undertaken by one of our assessors.

We are proud advocates of positive reward-based dog training. That means we, and our trainers/assessors, will NEVER use training methods, tools or techniques that inflict pain, or that use fear, force, or intimidation. We teach - and train - with understanding, kindness and respect. 

Confidentiality

You acknowledge that our Confidential Information includes all of our content, materials and software.

We acknowledge that the Subscriber Data is your Confidential Information.

Each party shall use its best endeavours to ensure that the other's Confidential Information to which it has access is not disclosed or distributed in violation of these terms.

Neither party shall be responsible for any loss, destruction, alteration or disclosure of Confidential Information caused by any third party.

This clause shall survive termination of this Agreement, however arising.

Intellectual Property

You agree that the products and services, graphics, user interface, audio clips, video clips, editorial content, templates and the scripts and software used to implement PAWS Therapy Dog Training, contains proprietary information and material that is owned by PAWS Therapy Dog Training Ltd and/or its licensors, and is protected by applicable intellectual property and other laws, including but not limited to copyright.

You agree that you will not use such proprietary information or materials in any way whatsoever except for use of PAWS Therapy Dog Training in compliance with this Agreement.

No portion of the PAWS Therapy Dog Training may be reproduced in any form or by any means, without expressed written permission from PAWS Therapy Dog Training Ltd.

Payments

Upon acceptance to participate in the PAWS Therapy Dog Certification Programme, you acknowledge that your entire Programme fee must be paid even if you choose at some future point to no longer participate and that no refunds will be issued. 

If you have opted to pay by monthly instalments, payments will automatically be collected each month until the end of the plan.

In the event that a payment fails a member of our team will contact you to discuss further. All plans must be brought up to date within 7 days of a missed payment. If your monthly payments are not made in a timely fashion for any reason, the Company may suspend your participation in the Programme until your account is brought current, and to pursue those funds even if you no longer participate. 

PAWS Therapy Dog Training Ltd reserves the right to pass any account that falls into arrears of more than 14 days to our legal representatives at which point late fees and legal costs will be added to the outstanding balance. In the eventuality your payment plan is passed to our legal team, the full outstanding balance becomes due immediately. 

In-person Assessments

One in-person assessment is included in the programme fee, however, if your dog requires more than one assessment visit in order to pass, additional visits are charged at £225 inclusive of VAT.

Please give as much notice as possible if you need to reschedule your in-person assessment, less than 48 hours’ notice of cancellation will incur a fee of £100.

Standards and Compliance

Two years after graduating the programme, and every other year thereafter, we will ask you and your dog to attend an in-person assessment to ensure that he/she is still fit for the work of a therapy dog. When passed, you will receive an updated certificate and badge which covers the following two years. The fee to attend this assessment is just £225 inclusive of VAT. 
 

Termination

The Company is committed to providing a positive and productive experience. 

You agree that the Company, at its sole discretion, may limit, suspend, or terminate your right to participate in the PAWS Therapy Dog Certification Programme without forgiveness of any remaining payments if you become disruptive or difficult to work with, fail to follow Programme guidelines, or if your behaviour impairs the ability of mentors or fellow participants to participate in the programme.

The company reserves the right to terminate the Programme in the event of unforeseen circumstances or force majeure, in this case the contract will cease, and no further payments will be owed.

Disputes

This agreement is governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute that we cannot resolve between us will be decided by independent arbitration whose decision will be binding on us, but not on you. If you are not satisfied with the arbitration decision, you may then go to court.
